Pastries of puff pastry - it's hugea variety of taste. You can cook a sweet treat, from its jam, honey with nuts, fruits, berries, cream or condensed milk. Can you bake puff salted and used as stuffing vegetables, fish or meat. Form cakes can be very different, too, from simple squares (like sliced cake Napoleon), ending curly wicker baskets or envelopes.
Generally puff pastry is unique in its characteristics: it is easy to prepare, long stored in the refrigerator, and the number of dishes that can be cooked out of it just countless.
In this recipe, we suggest to use alreadyready puff pastry (purchased or prepared according to a special recipe, which you can read here). As a filling for cakes puff pastry, we chose a light milk cream and strawberries. On the surface cakes resemble baskets or boats, in which carefully laid out the sweet filling.
Ingredients for "Pastry boats with custard and strawberries":
- 500 g of finished puff pastry;
- 50 g apricot jam;
- 100-150 g of fresh strawberries or other berries;
- 500 g milk;
- 1 egg;
- 1 egg yolk;
- 125 g of sugar;
- 25 g flour;
- 1 packet of custard powder;
- vanilla sugar;
- piece of butter for greasing the pan.

Begin by preparing the dough. Sheets should be ready to roll out the puff pastry into a thin layer, fold the envelope and then roll it out. Repeat this procedure several times. So when baking puff pastry turns out very soft and airy.
Cut the dough sheet into small squares.
Inside each square cut another square, to get the kind of frame around the edges. Fold the edge of the "framework" cross-wise, to get the bumpers.
The median of the resulting "boat" need to chopfork. This procedure during cooking will help to avoid raising the middle of the dough (dough will rise only at the edges), which means that the filling does not fall out of the cake.
Send tins of dough in the oven for 15-20 minutes, bake at 200 gr.S. Baking preliminary grease with a piece of butter and Cover the parchment.
At this time, enjoy a cooking cream. In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, add the vanilla sugar. In a separate bowl, mix together the egg, egg yolk, sugar, flour and custard powder. If you do not have cream powder, you can replace it with cornstarch. Once the milk boils, pour in the egg mixture into the milk and stir constantly to avoid forming lumps. Let the mixture boil for 2-3 minutes. Then remove someone from the heat and cool.
Fill each "boat" from the chilled pastry cream by about half, leaving room for the berry filling.
Strawberries or other berries (fruit pieces can be) carefully wash under running water. Large berries should be cut in half. Put the strawberries on top of the cream.
The final touch - coated cakes with fillingsfruit glaze. A quarter cup of apricot jam (can be any other) dilute a couple of tablespoons of boiled water. Then, using a silicone cooking brush cover the resulting mixture cakes. Apricot jam is sweet and sour taste and perfectly acts as a glaze. Covered with a glaze baking is delicious glossy shine.
