The meatballs in the oven (or as they are called in ourin Russia, meatballs) are well prepared from a mixture of ground beef and rice in carrot and tomato gravy. I usually make them quite large - one or two meatballs enough for one serving. So they are more juicy.
It needs fresh herbs for this recipe -onions, parsley, dill, or something one of them. You can also use fresh mashed tomatoes instead of tomato paste. However, if you do not have fresh tomatoes on hand, you can use canned tomatoes or tomato paste diluted with water.
Boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes, tend to be the best side dish for meatballs, but they can be fed with buckwheat or pasta.
