Shortbread Snowflake

The tradition of baking Christmas cookies is very common in Europe. There are baked just an incredible number of species of Christmas cookies. It is sold in shops in the festively decorated boxes and take with them, going to visit.

Unfortunately, we have, with all the variety offered in the baking stores, cookies in the form of snowflakes, snowmen, Christmas trees you will not find even in the New Year.

Ingredients for "Shortbread Snowflake":

For the dough:

  • 1 cup softened butter;
  • 1 cup powdered sugar;
  • 2 cups of flour;
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt;
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar;
  • parchment paper;
  • shape to cut cookies in the form of snowflakes;
  • a little sugar.

For glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar;
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of lemon juice;
  • 2 tbsp. tablespoons of cold water.

Recipe for "Shortbread Snowflake":

Oil whip at medium speed of electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, continuing to whisk.
Combine the flour, vanilla sugar and salt and gradually add it to the butter mixture, beat until until you get a uniform batter.

Roll out the dough in a layer about 3-4 mm thick on a lightly floured surface.
With the help of "Snowflake" shape-cutter cut cookies from the dough.
Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cookies on a baking sheet at a distance of 2-3 cm from each other.

Preheat oven to 170 gr.S. Bake your Christmas cookies for 11 to 13 minutes or until the edges of "snowflakes" are not browned.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and cool the cookies on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Put it on the grill and let it cool completely (about 40 minutes).

Prepare the glaze: pour in a bucket of powdered sugar, add a couple tablespoons of water and lemon juice and heat on low heat until boiling, stirring constantly. Cool the glaze and load it into the pastry syringe.

Use the icing to draw a snowflake cookies and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Serve the biscuits on the table, when the glaze is completely dry.
